FREE LIVE MUSIC FOR MILITARY PERSONNEL AT ORION INDEPENDENT MUSIC FESTIVAL
Veterans and Current Enlistees to Enjoy Free Entry to All Artist Showcases in Park City, Utah
PARK CITY, UTAH – All past and present U.S. military personnel are invited to attend the inaugural Orion Independent Music Festival for free. The Festival takes place January 14-20, 2010 in several of Park City’s live music venues. Military personnel can simply show their credentials at the door of each venue for complimentary admission to see 60 independent music acts during the week preceding the Sundance Film Festival. Music genres will include rock, pop, jazz, R&B, lounge, country, and hip hop.
“Offering military personnel the opportunity to see cutting-edge live music for free is a small token of appreciation for the sacrifices they have made for all Americans,” says Steffon Olsen, founder and CEO of the Orion Independent Music Festival. “We hope that anyone in the services who will be in Park City for the Festival’s first year will experience the variety of talent we have lined up.”
Seeking to revolutionize the music industry, the Orion Independent Music Festival will provide exposure to unsigned music acts in a similar way Sundance does for filmmakers. The Festival will be a convergence of industry professionals from record labels and internet marketing companies who are seeking new talent and fans looking to broaden their musical horizons. During Park City’s bustling ski season, the Orion Independent Music Festival will elevate the après-ski experience by providing high-quality live music from all over the U.S. and Europe.
Several Main Street venues will host artist showcases, including Cisero’s, Doolan’s, Downstairs, Flanagan’s, Harry Os, Lindzee O’Michaels, The Sidecar, The Spur Bar & Grill, and The Star Bar. Each will serve the signature Orion cocktail. Part of the Festival proceeds will benefit Mountain Town Music in Park City.
Opening ceremonies will be held Jan. 14 at Park City’s historic Egyptian Theater during which Park City Mayor Dana Williams will welcome festival attendees and treat them to some of his own original music.
Festival wristbands, allowing access to all venues, are available online at www.orionmusicfestival.com for just $40, or people can pay $5 at the door for individual showcases.
