Shaney McCoy
Like many musicians, Shaney’s first experiences with writing and performing music were in church settings in and around the small Kansas town where she was raised. She began performing professionally in 1999 when she formed a 5-piece band called Shaney McCoy and the High Country Band in Phoenix, Arizona. Playing both original and cover songs, they performed regularly for the next 3 years at a number of venues including Harrah’s Casino, Ft. McDowell Casino, Mr. Lucky’s, neighborhood bars, and other public and private functions.
For the next several years, while completing undergraduate and graduate school, Shaney focused on her songwriting and took a hiatus from performing. In 2008, she was ready to introduce her new material and pursue performing in earnest. As a solo acoustic artist she has performed at a variety of locations including the 2008 Chicks & Picks Music Festival in Eagle, ID; The Mountain Music Festival, Salt Lake City, UT; The Piper Pub & Grill in Boise, ID; Peloton’s Cafe and Bistro 258 in Ogden, UT; and Oasis Cafe, The Tin Angel Cafe, and Alchemy Coffee in Salt Lake City, UT.
Shaney’s live shows offer a blend of songs that range from lyrical and haunting to blues to pure upbeat fun, keeping audiences entertained and coming back for more. However, it is her ability to capture universal human emotions in the words of her songs, and the connection she creates with each and every listener, that has kept her fan base loyal and strong over the years.
